I worked with Ling for over 3 years at Thomson Reuters. I worked in the technology organization and Ling worked in the User Experience group. What impressed me most about Ling was her passion for UX. She organized brown bag sessions to acquaint the technology community with UX. She polled our customers for input on her team’s designs. She was tenacious about spreading the word about UX and curious about what our customers thought would help. I enjoyed working with Ling. She was a tremendous colleague and I would recommend her highly.

Ling is the consummate professional with a deep mastery of the broad applications of effective User Experience modeling. Her excellence, however, extends well beyond UX best practices. Through tactful leadership, effective motivational techniques and an always-on positive spirit, Ling brings out the best in the people around her. She especially excels at creative problem-solving, aptly applying her people- and change management skills with a never-say-die attitude. It is a sheer pleasure to know Ling professionally and as a person. I cannot recommend her more highly. Any organization should consider themselves extremely lucky to have her on board.

Ling Lee is truly a compassionate manager who has an eye for details and an admirable quality of resilience. She finds joy in helping others grow in their profession and was very kind and supportive during my onboarding process at Beachbody. She went out of her way many times to ensure that I felt welcome there. She even set aside time during the week where our team could stay abreast advancements in the UX field and this was critical in the continual refinement of my craft. If it weren’t for her genuine faith in my abilities and my potential, I wouldn’t be where I am today.

Given the environment on the IT side of the firm at the time, it’s amazing that she chose to serve them for so long despite incredible setbacks we faced together as a team. Her resilience and patience is beyond me, but I guess it shouldn’t be too much of a surprise, for anyone who really knows Ling is aware that she is a fiercely loyal person at heart. This quality, among others I’ve mentioned, really sets her apart from other managers I’ve worked with and I’m proud to recommend her in any endeavor she pursues.

Working with Ling was a real pleasure. She took her assignments very seriously and applied herself studiously. Her work product really knocked it out of the park every time. She understood UX, understood the client, communicated well with them, and created exactly the kind of planning needed for the project. I recommend her highly. I had the fortunate opportunity to work under Ling this last year on a couple of Thomson Reuters’ projects/products. In these projects, Ling always sought to get her team to the understand the users’ thought processes in order to better shape the experience. She is an ideator that has vision, yet is still sensitive to the need for details that are required to deliver a project. And deliver she does!

In addition to being a talented UX Designer, she is a fantastic manager. She is always works to eliminate obstacles that may prevent her designers from focusing on creating the best user experience and successfully achieving business’ goals. She is a positive and enthusiastic influence: willingly sharing her knowledge of the products, the business’ goals as well as the current market and how these products fit in that space. No matter the situation, she seems to be a step ahead in guiding her team in the best direction: whether it is evangelizing UX throughout the organization or mentoring her team in the best methods for handling difficult situations where UX may not be readily accepted by all groups.

Ling is an incredible UX Manager and any team would be lucky to have her manage them.

You can feel Ling’s smile through the phone. She hired me to help bring new life to a fairly tired SaaS product, and from our very first conversation I knew she’d be a great UX advocate, resource and fearless leader – and my instincts were absolutely correct. Ling is a real joy to work with and if I’m lucky we’ll get a chance to work together again.

Working with Ling is always a pleasure. She always seems to have a great happy attitude about the challenges we are faced with. She built a strong team of seasoned UXers – a powerhouse of excellence. I felt we, as a team, made great strides in aligning multiple application development efforts to a standard of UI patterns that will help re-enforce the solid brand that Thomson Reuters represents. Ling was instrumental in helping project managers and other VPs understand the importance of a good user experience. Helping Thomson Reuters realize that by leveraging Material Design, along with all the usability testing Google has done to support it, will help catapult TR to the 21st century is something Ling can take full credit for.

I worked under Ling as a UX intern. She is not only an extremely great manager but also a resourceful mentor. I admire her innovation, fast decision making, being open to ideas from everyone and her vast knowledge of User Experience.
It was an absolute delight to have Ling as my first manager for any job and I learnt a lot from her!

Ling’s incredible track record speaks for itself, but what it can’t convey is how much fun she is to work with. She has this innate ability to conceptualize not just a project or an initiative, but to grasp the market element surrounding it. Whether it’s launching new products, spearheading major company initiatives or integrating new strategies Ling never loses sight of the customer or the market that ultimately gets affected.

Ling is an amazing User Experience Professional but more a natural leader who has genuine heart for helping others to succeed. She is the type of people manager that builds strong tight knit groups characterized by deep trust and respect. Because of this Ling is often sought out as an individual to share her insights and her experiences on everything from marketing, sales to user experience on how people think and interact. She is an asset to any organization!
